Date of last update: Tuesday, September 30, 2003

Parents:

I have posted some of the worksheets that I gave to students this past week.  Friday's quiz is on slavery and the antebellum South, and the info needed for the worksheets posted on this page are quite similar.  Acrobat reader is needed to view the files.  If you need a free copy of a reader, go to "Unit by Unit," click on "Sectionalism," and "handouts."  The free download is available there.

Students:

Next week (September 29 - October 3) we will begin to closely examine the political and economic system of the South and compare it to what we now know about the North.  By midweek we will have a quiz on the North and facts we should know about it.    Some terms to think about are:

1) Factory System vs.

     Age of  Homespun

2) unions

3) bread and butter

     issues

4) Workingman's party

5) Effects of the War of

     1812

6) Missouri Compromise

    of 1820

7) importance of

     transportation

     systems like the Erie

     Canal

8) Manifest Destiny

See Review Work Sheet passed out in class on Friday.
