Parents:

The February Extra Credit Projects are coming in, and they look AWESOME!

Thanks to the many parents who helped in the February "Betsy Ross Flag Making Project."  56% of the students participated.  Flags will be displayed soon in the halls of Mohawk House.

A picture gallery will soon follow.

Parents:

March 3rd marks the end of the 3rd marking period interim.  Interim Reports will go home on March 10th.

Students:

During the month of March we will:

1.  Raise money for a care package to Iraq.  Andy Semp needs socks, Cheez-its, and AT&T telephone calling cards.

2.  Create "Box Top Battles" for both the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.

3.  Closely examine the US Constitution to better understand how it protects the liberties that the colonists fought for.

4.  We will take a snapshot look at our current president, and make comparisons to prominent presidents of the past.

5.  You will sing songs, and be happy.

6.  Spring will arrive, and that will really make you want to stay inside and study.

   Have a great March!

Lance Corporal Andy Semp

Andy Semp visited us on January 6th, 2006.

He arrived in Iraq in Iraq in mid February.

Our first letters were mailed March 1st.

News from Iraq

Andy has received our first batch of

letters.  He really welcomed the

diversion they created as he has been

very busy since arriving in Iraq.

He is stationed at a former Iraqi

Air Base, which the soldiers are

trying to improve.

Andy says that it is hard to keep his

gun clean as the sand is much finer

then he expected.  He imagined

beach sand, not talcum powder

type of sand.

Andy tells his Mom that he was in his

first sand storm!  It is nothing like

you can imagine.  The sand gets into

everything.

We await letters, emails, or photos from

Andy.  He will be out on a mission

for the next four weeks, so no one

(not even his Mom) will be hearing

from him.  Please keep sending him

the letters anyway.  He really enjoyed

them.

Andy really is in the thick of it.

Please keep him in your thoughts.
